Prevention of scale in water-cooled diesel engine

The key to prevent and reduce scale formation lies in reducing mineral metal ions in scale and softening water quality. There are mainly the following measures:

(1) Magnetize the water. Some small magnets are placed in the cooling system of the engine. The magnetic field produced by these magnets can magnetize the cooling water. The magnetized water can reduce the formation of scale and make the original scale disappear gradually.

(2) Use the softening characteristics of boiling water. The water will become soft after boiling. Adding it to the cooling system can reduce the amount of scale formation. This method is simple, but it can not completely soften water.

(3) Method of adding softener. Add softener into the hard water to be treated, add 0.15-1.5g sodium bicarbonate (bicarbonate) or 0.6-0.7g sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) per litre of water, stir and precipitate, and then inject the above clean water into the cooling system.

(4) Add preservative (K2Cr2O7). In the coolant often pay attention to potassium pyroate, can not only prevent water corrosion, but also reduce the generation of scale. In addition, if Cummins engine requires DCA coolant, caterpillar engine requires preservative or antifreeze in the coolant. All of these can prevent cavitation, corrosion and scale.

(5) The best coolant is clean river water, rain water and snow water, while well water and tap water contain a lot of minerals, so it is better to use it after softening treatment.

(6) Add cooling water in time to prevent low level of water radiator.

(7) Using antifreeze all the year round will play a good role in preventing the formation of scale and improving the power performance of the engine.
